Lung cancer survivor grateful for care, radiation treatment option, from her oncologist and Beacon team
With every cancer diagnosis comes many questions, including what treatment options the patient has. Surgery was the only option for Lori Isack when she was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2020. But when her cancer returned earlier this year, Lori learned about an alternative.
“A lot of people automatically assume they get lung cancer and they’re going right to surgery,” said Dr. Samuel McGrath, Beacon Medical Group radiation oncologist.
“We always want our patients to have that opinion from the surgeon,” Dr. McGrath said. “But there are a lot of people who are unable to undergo surgery because of their preexisting lung condition, or they hear all that surgery entails and would rather pursue a non-invasive approach.”
