Beacon recognized on national level for the heartfelt patient care provided by our teams

“There are 5,100 hospitals across the country,
caring for more than 32 million patients.
Each of these hospitals has a story.”

Beacon Health System is proud to announce its selection by the American Hospital Association (AHA) as one of just two healthcare organizations in the nation to be showcased in the 2024 “Telling the Hospital Story” initiative. This incredible honor has provided us the opportunity to share our story of how we deliver outstanding and compassionate care as we walk beside patients throughout their healthcare journey with audiences across the country.

For three days in mid-February, a film crew visited South Bend and Elkhart to capture firsthand stories from our patients, caregivers, board members and community partners. They witnessed instances of heartfelt dedication. They observed acts of compassion. They interacted with caregivers who consider their patients as family. We are unveiling this during the start of National Hospital Week because none of this would have been possible without our dedicated teams and associates from every department who do amazing work at Beacon every day.

“Not only are the caregivers and team members at Beacon tirelessly committed to delivering high quality care for the patients and families they serve, but they are also committed to making a difference in the community, promoting health and wellness outside of the walls of the hospital,” said Jennifer Armstrong Gay, American Hospital Association communications.

“We saw a health system that was invested in serving the health and social needs of its community, allowing residents to receive the health care and support they need close to home. Our nation’s hospitals and health systems are guided by the mission of advancing equitable care and health improvement for all, and this is certainly true at Beacon,” she said.

The AHA is highlighting the resilience and commitment of hospitals and healthcare workers who steadfastly support our communities, even amid unprecedented industry challenges. In the coming months, more stories and interviews from Beacon will be shared not only nationally but also locally, celebrating our collective efforts and impact.

Our gratitude goes out to everyone connected with Beacon — our associates, our patients and their families, the volunteer community leaders on our boards, and our community partners, who have been instrumental in showcasing our vital role to the communities we are proud to serve.

“We were honored to have been selected to take part in a project that illustrates our dedicated commitment to patients and the community and showcases the transformative care we provide patients and families,” said Kreg Gruber, Beacon CEO. “No matter the challenges we face as an industry, our passion for patient care here at Beacon has never been stronger. Let’s all celebrate National Hospital Week by sharing Beacon’s story, honoring our healthcare professionals’ dedication to Beacon’s mission of delivering outstanding care, inspiring health and connecting with heart.”
