What is recreational therapy?
Recreational therapy utilizes recreation and other activity-based interventions to address the assessed needs of individuals with illness and or disabling conditions, as a means to psychological and physical health, recovery, and well-being. Recreation is the difference between existing and living.
Who can benefit from recreational therapy?
Patients of all ages with physical disabilities, psychiatric disorders or those recovering from an accident or illness. Therapy can lead to improved social skills and mood, as well as functional independence with leisure activities.
Services
Serve all patients on the inpatient rehab unit.
- Community re-entry
- 1-to-1 therapy to increase endurance and independence for leisure, and to provide leisure education and opportunities
- Group education and social activities
