Trauma Education
Beacon Trauma Services offers education to physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and the public in various topics of trauma care. There are also injury prevention and outreach programs for community members and organizations. Below are a few examples of the educational offerings that are available for our community partners:
- Trauma Nurses Talk Tough: 1 hour powerpoint presentation through the eyes of a trauma nurse detailing actual accidents and injuries aimed and getting kids to make the right choices about driving, weapons and other dangers.
- Let’s Get High and Die: 1 hour power point presentation on the newest illegal drugs in the area and the affects those drugs are having on kids, families and neighborhoods.
- Stop the Bleed: 1 hour presentation on recognizing uncontrolled bleeding, hands on practice with holding pressure on the wound, packing the wound and applying a tourniquet. Also geared to be a train the trainer class
- Senior Lifestyles and Injury Prevention (SLIP): This is a comprehensive injury prevention program for seniors with topics on home safety, fall prevention, medication safety, motor vehicle safety and pedestrian safety
